some geller background
For the first 23 years of our existence, we operated from showrooms and offices in Percy Street, Tottenham Court Road, London W1.
In 1981, to meet our expanding needs, we acquired a building in Ruislip which we converted to the requirements of our high-technology business.
By April 2001, we had again outgrown our working space and moved to our present headquarters in Fairway Drive, Greenford, Middlesex - a building of some 19,000 square feet. This has enabled us to bring all departments, including warehousing and R & D, beneath one roof instead of our previous three separate locations.
THE geller HARDWARE STORY
When we were established in 1957, we enjoyed the UK and Eire distribution for Universal Cash Registers, manufactured in Nottingham. These were press-down-key models of which we sold many thousands directly to nationwide multiple retailers and hospitality establishments as well as through our dealer network to smaller users.
Between the years 1960 - 1969 we acquired the UK and Eire rights to distribute electro-mechanical cash registers from Hasler of Switzerland and Remington Corporation of the USA as well as the dealer distribution rights for Gross Cash Registers made in Brighton.
Our introduction to the field of digital electronics started in 1970 when we began the import of electronic calculators produced by Citizen Business Machines of Japan.
At the same time, the first of the early electronic cash registers were being developed and, following the decimalisation of sterling in 1971, we began sales of these products side by side with the electro-mechanical cash registers which were still being manufactured.
In 1971, our Chairman, David Geller, was invited to represent the cash register industry on the Government's Halsbury Committee which oversaw the introduction of decimalisation into the United Kingdom.
In 1974, we began to distribute electronic cash registers made by The Towa Corporation of Japan, one of the leading manufacturers in the industry. After more than 30 years, our successful trading relationship with Towa continues to this day.
In 1992, Vectron Systems AG of Munster appointed us UK and Republic of Ireland distributor for their market-leading range of solid-state touch screen systems for hospitality.
In 2000, we were proud to become the UK and Republic of Ireland distributor for FEC, Taiwan's, leading manufacturer of high-quality PC EPOS products.
THE geller SOFTWARE STORY
In 1992, we introduced SAM, a DOS-based Sales & Management back-office software package.
In 1994, we began development of a new generation of Windows-based software.
Since its inception in 1995, Geller 'SuperStock' Stock Control Software has been continually developed to meet the changing demands of retailing and hospitality. In 2003, we released the powerful and popular multi-site SuperStock Version 6 which runs under all versions of Windows, including Windows Xp.
2003 also saw the introduction of GellerTouch, powerful point of sale software for hospitality, leisure and retail businesses to be used with Geller touch screen PC terminals.
In 2004, we introduced David Sales Manager, our highly popular, user-friendly sales and management reporting software and David Utility, keyboard design and programming software for Geller ECR terminals.
In 2005, we released SuperStock Version 7 and introduced David SlingShot.
All Geller software is continually developed to meet current market needs.
