When we first supplied cash registers to Odeon, the cinema managers wore evening dress and stood out front to welcome their customers. Since then, cinemas have changed beyond recognition. Multiplex, multi-screen cinemas are the norm and tickets are often purchased via the Internet.
The food and confectionery purchased by cinemagoers has become an extremely important source of revenue. In order to maximise the selling opportunity, speed and ease of operation and lack of downtime at the point of sale have an enormous effect on the bottom line.
Odeon have replaced the Geller terminals for their food and confectionery kiosks with new ones approximately every ten years. In January 2009, they completed their third Geller roll out with approximately 1,000 Geller-FEC point of sale terminals.
