Integrated EFT EPOS Systems
Home » Integrated EFT
If credit/debit card
purchases are a small part of your revenue there is a case for
continuing with a stand-alone EFT solution. One portable EFT unit
can be utilised for more than one point of sale and it costs less
than an integrated solution.
If credit/debit card payments are a significant part of your revenue it is sensible to opt for integrated EFT. The advantages of integrated EFT as opposed to stand-alone PDQ type units are that sales are simpler and quicker, the possibility of mistakes is reduced and there is less administration.
There are two kinds of integrated EFT solutions for Geller terminals, both of which require broadband access -
-
An integrated EFT/chip n PIN unit can be connected by serial cable to a Geller cash register or touch screen terminal. This is recommended for single point of sale terminals as it is completely self-contained and does not require a back-office PC. The EFT receipt is produced by the EFT/chip n PIN device.
-
With PC-based terminals – and especially where there are several points of sale – we recommend that the EFT software sits on a back-office PC/server. The chip n PIN devices are connected to the individual point of sale terminals. The processing is done across the network. The receipt printers connected to the point of sale terminals produce the EFT receipts.
