Raised button keyboards are generally used in retailing or when numeric amounts are entered into the keyboard as opposed to one-touch preset buttons.
Raised buttons have a more positive feel as they move more when depressed. For this reason some users prefer them even in hospitality situations. Waterproof covers are available.
The disadvantage of using raised button keyboards in hospitality is that it is not so easy to change the descriptions on the buttons.
