Model MPT-500/510 (portable GPRS/WIFI)
For locations with broadband, Model MPT-510 connects via a standard wifi link to your broadband. Where there is no broadband, but there is good mobile telephone reception, integrated Model MPT-500 works via the mobile GPRS network.
In both cases, the cradle is hard-wired to the point of sale unit and the payment terminal is 'portable', i.e. removable from the cradle. The transaction is automatically completed when the payment terminal is returned to the cradle.
In a typical restaurant, the waiter takes the Chip & PIN terminal from the cradle and carries it to the customer's table. The waiter inserts the customer's card into the Chip & PIN payment terminal and asks the customer to confirm that the amount to be debited is correct. The customer enters his PIN which is then verified and an authorisation code is received on the Chip & PIN terminal.
The waiter gives the customer the transaction receipt and the merchant copy receipt issued by the Chip & PIN payment terminal and returns it to the cradle which automatically closes off the bill at the ECR/EPOS terminal.
