GELLER BUSINESS MACHINES ACQUIRED BY CONSOLIS SYSTEMS
LEADING CASH REGISTER DISTRIBUTOR GELLER BUSINESS MACHINES ACQUIRED BY CONSOLIS SYSTEMS
Geller set to expand into integrated EPoS payment systems
LONDON, 12 JULY 2010: Consolis Systems Limited - a leading retail management software and services company - today announced that it has acquired the entire share capital of Geller Business Equipment Limited, the UK's oldest and largest distributor of cash registers and electronic point of sale systems (EPoS) for the retail and hospitality industries.
Terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed.
Geller will become part of the Consolis group of companies, but will continue to operate under its own trading name of Geller Business Machines. Its customers include the Post Office, Oxfam, Chevron and Estée Lauder.
Geller's managing director, Norman Geller, will continue in his present role. Peter Moore, managing director of Consolis Systems, will become chief executive officer of Geller Business Machines.
The acquisition will not affect staffing levels at Geller and all of the company's current employees will be retained.
Consolis said the acquisition will enable Geller Business Machines to become a powerful new force in the retail technology market by uniquely combining its 53 years of point of sale hardware experience with the advanced retail management and payment processing software of Consolis subsidiary CES Software.
Geller is now expected to put a major emphasis on developing integrated EPoS payment solutions for a new generation of retailers who are switching from stand-alone cash registers to more sophisticated technology-led systems. The new systems will provide vital management information, as well as customer behaviour data and low-cost electronic payment solutions.
Norman Geller, managing director of Geller Business Machines, said:
"We have been working on this great move forward for the company for some time. It marks the next step in the evolution of our business which began with press down key cash registers in 1957, then the first electronic models in the 1970s, and more recently web-based PC cash registers.
"With the financial resources to take the company forward, we can now look at developing the next generation of EPoS products. This will enable us to take full advantage of the changing needs of the retail and hospitality industries as they emerge from the recession."
He added: "We and Consolis have complementary skills, but a shared belief in the future of EPoS in the UK. We have several innovative projects in the pipeline which we will bring to market over the next year."
Peter Moore, managing director of Consolis Systems, said: "Geller has been working closely with our subsidiary CES Software for about 12 years. It became apparent that there are a lot of synergies between Geller's hardware innovations and the new software we are developing. When the opportunity arose to acquire Geller, it made sense to bring the two companies together."
Moore added: "Geller already provides some excellent products and has a great reputation for reliability and integrity. We aim to take the company to a new level by enabling them to offer a broader and more complete range of EPoS products - with increased customer support - and get these new products into the market faster.

The system box can be supplied as a bare bones system without hard drive or Windows for industrial or special purpose applications - for example using compact flash and running under Linux.

6/1/9:
The SX-690 Ready-to-Go Retail Scanning System
Released in January 2009, the SX-690 Ready-to-Go Retail Scanning System has been an instant success with convenience stores and similar retailers.
Many smaller retailers want the features of PC based systems, but with cash register simplicity at the point of sale and without the higher cost of touch screen terminals.
Plug it in and start scanning
The SX-690 Ready-to-Go Retail System is delivered pre-loaded with approximately 17,500 popular retail products – including local and national newspapers and magazines.
Low priced but fully featured
Included in its low price are most of the features available on PC-based systems – for example, Mix and Match, Stock Control with Re-order by Supplier, Shelf-Edge Labels, Scale Link and Inter-Register Communication. A change – for example, a price or product change – made on one SX-690 is sent automatically to every other SX-690 in the system, if you have more than one.
Simple to set up – simple to use
To implement the SX-690 Ready-to-Go Scanning System, plug it in, scan items in the store, enter the prices and press the appropriate department buttons. After a few weeks, you can request that all items with a zero price are deleted from the system. This removes all the products that are not sold in your business. It is easy to enter any new products you decide to stock.

Bluetooth wireless printing
All Geller cash register and PC terminals can be connected via Bluetooth to receipt and kitchen printers for wireless connection.
The obvious advantages are ease of connection and no unsightly wires on view.
The cost is often lower than cabling and to move a printer or a terminal from one place to another, just pick it up and move it anywhere there is a power point.
In the unobstructed open air, the range is around 100 yards. In buildings containing walls, metal girders etc, the range is reduced but is normally enough to cover the largest restaurants, pubs, etc.
